 Mel Johnson, Lead Mission Strategist

      I am often asked, "What do you enjoy most about your ministry" and I often reply that one of the great privileges I experience in serving as Lead Mission Strategist includes the opportunity of simply saying, "Thank You!".  Autauga Baptist Churches have provided me with a platform to express appreciation as a result of our a passion for Great Commission outreach. I take great joy in being part of what God is doing through our churches as we labor together to share Christ in our local communities, across Alabama, throughout North America and around the globe. Our numerous partnerships ensure that ABA maintains a physical footprint in every element of our Acts 1:8 strategy.
     Preaching to equip God's people and missions to engage His church are two passions that thrill my soul and I am excited to be listed among the "Great Commissionaries" known as Autauga Baptists. ABA is 30 churches and 2 missions reaching our generation for Christ.

       I am originally from Guatemala City where I ministered as Music Minister, Youth Pastor, and local missionary. I graduated from the Guatemala Baptist Theological Seminary. I was also a bi-vocational minister, managing my own business during my time in Guatemala. 

       I have been serving as a full-time minister among Hispanics in Alabama for the last fifteen years. Every day God confirms his calling to this country as I see the fruits of the Ministry.

    I am privileged to have a triple citizenship. I like to say that I am Guatemalan by birth, an American by choice and a Christian by Grace.

     I was born, raised, and saved in Autauga County. This is home! Church life was an important part of my growing up years and continues to this day.

   God has led me and my family on the mission field here at home and abroad. I was employed with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions for several years, and for twenty-two years I served as the Ministry Assistant of a local Prattville church.

     I feel very blessed now to be a part of the Great Commission with the Autauga Baptist Association.

On behalf of your staff, Carlos, Lisa, and myself, it is our privilege to serve as your associational missionaries as we labor alongside in service of our Savior.  Blessings and always remember, you make the difference!  In service 'til the shout!
